Travel and Day Hike Backpack Review

Carrying three different backpacks on a trip might seem excessive at first glance, but each serves a specific purpose, catering to the diverse needs and challenges that travelers often encounter. This strategic approach allows for efficiency, versatility, and ensures that travelers are well-prepared for various situations they may encounter during their journey. The trio of backpacks typically includes a hydration pack, a general backpack, and a pocket backpack.

Hydration Packs

The hydration pack is a fundamental component, especially for those engaged in outdoor activities or prolonged periods of exploration. It is designed with a built-in water reservoir and a hose for easy access to hydration without the need to stop and unpack a separate water bottle. Staying adequately hydrated is crucial for maintaining energy levels, especially in climates where the sun and physical exertion can quickly lead to dehydration. The hydration pack ensures a continuous supply of water, promoting comfort, and supporting the body’s performance during extended adventures.

The Teton Sports hydration pack has been our go to pack for everything that we do and want to have a water bladder on our backs. It has a ton of extra space to store snacks, layers, first aid kit, and anything else that you need to carry. The pack also has a waist and chest straps to help keep it in place while hiking, biking or any other high movement sport. The best feature in my mind is the integrated rain hood that is in a small compartment under the pack, it just pulls out and you dont have to remember to bring one and you are completely protected when that rain comes in you weren’t expecting. My wife is still using the bladder that comes in the pack, I have upgraded to a 2L Camelbak bladder so that I can carry a bit more water, I barely even notice the extra bladder size.

 General Backpack

The general backpack is the workhorse of the trio, serving as the primary storage unit for a variety of essentials. Its larger size allows travelers to carry clothing, toiletries, electronic devices, and other items necessary for daily activities. This backpack is versatile enough to accommodate changes in weather, unexpected purchases, or the need to carry additional gear, making it indispensable for a variety of travel scenarios. Its ergonomic design and adjustable straps enhance comfort during extended wear, and multiple compartments facilitate organized packing, enabling quick access to essentials.

My favorite backpack is the Wandrd PRVK 31L Photography pack. There is so much to consider when selecting a Travel backpack. The reasons I chose this was the flip back design kept all of my camera and drone equipment safe and secure as well as anytime you need to go through security you can just open it up and not have to pull out your laptops and other technology pieces. Outside of the the technology compartments would be the waterproofness of the pack and protecting everything inside, the expansion of the top area and finally the ability to strap and secure things all over the pack.

For work I also carry an Ogio Renegade. The only reason that I switch between the two for work and travel is that the Ogio has a few extra pockets and for the way I prefer to organize my backpack it makes sense.

Pocket Packs

On the other hand, the pocket backpack serves a more specialized role. It is compact, lightweight, and designed for short excursions or situations where carrying a larger backpack is impractical. This smaller backpack is perfect for day trips, city explorations, or quick outings, providing just enough space for essentials like a wallet, phone, keys, and a small water bottle. Its convenience lies in its portability and ease of use, allowing travelers to navigate crowded areas or urban landscapes without feeling encumbered.

There are so many options out there for a pocket backpack but this is a must have for anyones carryon if you are traveling often. Having this little guy gives you so many options for exploring a city, day hikes, grocery store runs and even an extra bag to bring home any souvenirs from your trip. This is one of those bags that makes for a must have for any active traveler.

Recap

The combination of these three backpacks allows for adaptability to different environments and activities. Whether traversing a bustling city, hiking through rugged terrain, or enjoying a leisurely stroll, having the right backpack for the occasion ensures that travelers are well-equipped without unnecessary burden. The hydration pack, general backpack, and pocket backpack collectively address the multifaceted requirements of a diverse travel experience, enhancing both comfort and preparedness. Ultimately, the thoughtful selection of these backpacks empowers travelers to embark on their journeys with confidence, knowing they are ready for whatever adventures may come their way.
